This year’s annual Environmental Awards has become one of the highlights of Holme Pierrepont Country Park’s year. The awards praise the work to protect and enhance the world we live in, by championing causes that go above and beyond.
Run in conjunction with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, many organisations and individuals in Nottingham were nominated across ten award categories with the winners chosen at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, on Wollaton Street, on Thursday 20th October.
Holme Pierrepont Country Park made the finals for the Public Sector Initiative Award, along with Gedling Country Park, after their Notts Wildlife Trust Award back in March 2016.
The Grounds Team, headed by Stephen ‘Bish’ Bishop, give it their all, year on year to maintain the 270 acres of country park and were incredibly pleased with their win, especially considering the £1.6 million investment fellow finalists Gedling Country Park received.
One of the contributing factors is the development of the Nature Reserve. The team have worked tirelessly over the past 12 years to take a piece of land and turn it into a magnificent area for the local community and wildlife of Holme Pierrepont. This has included reinstating paths, creating bird boxes and bug hotels, regular grounds work alongside their usual site maintenance and impeccable cleanliness and recycling.
The team have now won two local awards this year and are setting their sights even higher by working towards the national Green Flag award in May this year.
Congratulations team, your fellow colleagues and regular customers, partners and local community are super proud. Keep up the good work!.
