Experience the ultimate sense of freedom and adventure with Sailing at the National Water Sports Centre this Summer. With a range of taster sessions, courses and activity programmes there is nowhere better to develop your skills or just give it a go.

Sailing is one of the most rewarding sporting pastimes and whatever level your at, we're ideally equipped to help you improve and progress your skills. As a fully accredited RYA training centre with highly qualified and experienced instructors, we offer a range of courses to cater for all ages and abilities.

For children we have Taster Courses, spanning over 8 weeks and retailing at only £32.00 (£4.00 per hour and a half session). This will equip children with all the necessary knowledge and experience to start on the road towards gaining internationally recognised RYA qualifications.

We also have a wide range of Courses available for all age groups, these qualifications are Internationally recognised and perfect for those seeking a new hobby, going on holiday or with the longer term goal of becoming a qualified instructor. Whatever your goal, we have the product for you.

Open Sailing Club

  • Sailing club runs every Thursday throughout the summer from 16:00 until 17:30
  • Only £10 per person per session
  • The whole family welcome
  • The perfect session to develop new and existing skills
  • Minimum age to participate is 8 years and over

Junior Sailing Taster (2 Hours)

  • A 2 hour activity for 8 to 18 year olds
  • Perfect for those thinking of starting on the RYA development schemes
  • All tuition and equipment providing in this fun, safe and adventurous activity

Adult Sailing Taster (2 Hours)

  • The perfect introduction for 18+ year olds to the world of sailing
  • All tuition and equipment provided
  • A 2 hour session giving you the the perfect foundation to start on the RYA internationally recognised qualifications

Young Persons Sailing 8 week programme

  • Just £32 for an 8 week programme, that's just £4 per session
  • Each session lasts one and a half hours
  • Specifically designed for 9 to 19 year olds
  • The ideal foundation for a new hobby, to start progressing onto internationally recognised RYA qualifications or just to have fun and make new friends

RYA Youth (under 14) Sailing Stage 3 (2 Days)

  • The follow on from Youth RYA Sailing Stage 3
  • Rigging, launching and sailing in any direction
  • Equivalent to Level 2 in the National Sailing Scheme

  • Once you have completed this course you will be able to proficiently sail in light winds under supervision
  • Specifically designed for junior sailors
  • Learn some amazing skills and techniques from our highly trained instructors and experience some high-end sailing dinghies first hand

booking faq's

  • What do I need to bring?

    You should bring a swimsuit, old pair of trainers, shower gel, towel and confirmation of bookings

  • How many can fit in a boat?

    This depends upon the craft being used. We have single manned boats, double manned boats and a vision that can fit three people comfortably

  • Can anyone hire a sail boat?

    To hire a boat un-aided you will need the RYA Level 2 Sailing certificate as proof of your competency
